An effective way to prolong battery life in your PDA is to disable the Beam Receive function except when explicitly using it to receive data. Unfortunately, the method provided to turn Beam Receive on and off is tedious and time-consuming:
  1. Find the Preferences applet
  2. Launch it
  3. Select General from the dropdown
  4. Select the desired state (On or Off) in the Beam Receive dropdown
  5. Return to wherever you were
Beam Receive Toggle Hack reduces this to one step:
  1. Tap the configured point or do the configured stroke to toggle Beam Receive
